Children copy those they love.

Sometimes, we don’t know the effect we are having on those around us.  Children especially are watching us more closely than most of us realize.  Let me explain what prompted this comment.

August of 2009, three of us made a trip to the hardware store to purchase some plumbing parts.  There were three since my eldest grandson wanted to be with us men (actually, I think he wanted to be with his daddy).  While in the hardware store, as we shopped for the parts we needed, Grandson was busy pointing and asking, “What is that?” and expecting an answer.  If we picked up something, he was right there to pickup something similar.

Finally, we had what we thought we needed.  As we were getting ready to leave, the store owner was talking with my son-in-law and commented on the Grandson.  I had not noticed, but the young man was standing behind his father, holding his hands behind his back, emulating his father.

It is wonderful for me to be able to observe the love my grandchildren have for their parents.
